Tanya Intro for Gemer
TANYA GEMER INTRODUCTION
Introduction: Tanya is unique – 1) it is the incense which can fight all the ruchnius plagues before Moshiach 2) R’Zusya said with the Tanya the Jewish people will go out to greet moshiach. *When one studies Tanya thoroughly he is considered to have entered the land – ki tavo’u el haaretz’ and he makes the ratzon of the neshama – Ratzon Hashem manifested. The word ratzon is similar to aretz. The ways of serving Hashem taught in the Tanya have the power to turn the klallos said in parshas ki tavo into brochos.
2) Tanya is based on: ki karov elecha hadar me’od b’ficha ubilvavcha lasos.
It is very close to you to sere Hashem, with your mouth & heart to do it.
Ki karov elecha – how is it so close to everyone to desire to do spiritual things? It’s the opposite of our human tendencies!
3) Derech arucha uktzara: develop an ahava sichli through contemplation – takes a long time – it’s the most everlasting.
Derech ktzara v’arucha: uncovering the ahava mesuteres within every Jew because it’s already there. It doesn’t last in all instances – only revealed in times of mesiras nefesh.
4) The ones who wrote the haskamos for Tanya: R’zusya of anipoi, R’ Yehuda Leib Hakohen
R Yehuda Leib Hakohen signs the letter tof kuf nun vov – stands for “Tanya ketores neshama vruach” – Tanya is the incense which awakes the neshama & ruach
R’ Zusya of Anipoli signs the letter “tavo shnas pedisanu” – Tanya will bring about the redemption.
The sons of the Alter Rebbe wrote their haskama for the chelek of Tanya, Iggeres Hakadosh.
5) The Alter Rebbe wanted his book to reach the entire world, since he didn’t have time for to give everyone a yechidus, they could get the advice from learning Tanya.
Complaint: Everyone will understand Tanya different, or they might not understand it. We want Yechidus!
Answer: Tanya is Torah and Torah and Hashem are one. Hashem is within every Jew & therefore Torah is accessible and can be understood by every Jew.
6) 5 parts of Tanya:

2) Iggeres Hakadosh -- 32 perakim – letters the alter rebbe wrote to the communities on topics in chassidus
3) Iggeres Hateshuva – 12 perakim – explains what teshuva is
